Product Introduction: ABS Sheets – Precision Extrusion Process

Our ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) sheets are manufactured using an advanced, continuous extrusion process that ensures exceptional dimensional accuracy, uniform thickness, and superior surface finish. This highly efficient method transforms raw ABS resin into high-performance sheets suitable for automotive interiors, refrigeration liners, luggage shells, signage, and industrial thermoforming applications.

Step-by-Step Extrusion Process:

Raw Material Dosing & Blending
The process begins with premium-grade ABS resin pellets, which are precisely fed into a drying hopper. To enhance specific properties such as UV resistance, flame retardancy, or color stability, additives and masterbatches are blended in exact ratios using gravimetric dosing systems.

Melting & Plasticization in the Extruder
The dry blend enters a single-screw or twin-screw extruder, where it is heated to approximately 200–240 °C (390–465 °F). As the screw rotates, it transports, compresses, and melts the material, creating a homogeneous, viscous melt. The carefully controlled temperature profile ensures complete plasticization without thermal degradation.

Sheet Die Shaping
The molten ABS is forced through a wide, flat sheet die with an adjustable lip opening. The die is designed to deliver a consistent melt flow across the entire width, eliminating weld lines or thickness variations. This stage defines the initial sheet width and thickness.

Three-Roll Polishing Stack – Cooling & Calibrating
Immediately after exiting the die, the hot sheet enters a precision three-roll polishing stack. These chrome-plated, temperature-controlled rolls (top, middle, and bottom) serve two critical functions:

Cooling: The rolls rapidly reduce the melt temperature, solidifying the sheet.

Calendering: The roll gap precisely determines the final sheet thickness, while the mirror-polished surfaces impart a brilliant gloss on both sides. For matte finishes, textured rolls are used.

Edge Trimming & Pulling
Once solidified, the sheet passes through a trimming unit where the uneven edges are cut off to a precise width. A haul-off (pulling) unit provides constant tension, ensuring stable flow and preventing sagging.

Annealing (Optional Stress Relief)
To minimize internal stresses that can cause warping during later thermoforming, the sheet may pass through an annealing tunnel. This step is especially critical for thick sheets or deep-draw applications.

Length Cutting & Stacking
Finally, a flying cutter or guillotine shears the continuous sheet into exact-length panels. These are then automatically stacked, interleaved with protective film, and packed for shipment.

Key Advantages of Our Extruded ABS Sheets:

Tight Tolerances: Thickness accuracy within ±0.02 mm, ensuring consistent performance.

Excellent Surface Quality: Glossy, smooth, or matte finishes free of imperfections.

High Mechanical Strength: Impact resistance combined with rigidity and heat deflection up to 95 °C.

Easy Thermoforming: Low internal stress allows deep draws without cracking or whitening.

Cost-Effective: Continuous high-speed production reduces waste and energy consumption.
