Physical properties of ABS sheet

ABS sheet of the most primitive colour for the light yellow opaque sheet, non-toxic, tasteless, low water absorption, with good overall physical and mechanical properties, such as excellent electrical properties, abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, chemical resistance and surface luster, etc., and is easy to process molding. The disadvantage is weather resistance, heat resistance is poor, and flammable.

Mechanical properties of ABS plastic sheet

ABS sheet has excellent mechanical properties, its impact strength is very good, can be used at very low temperatures; ABS sheet has excellent abrasion resistance, good dimensional stability, and oil resistance. mechanical properties of ABS sheet is greatly affected by the temperature.

Application of ABS sheet

High-gloss ABS sheet is used for hoovers, fans, air conditioners, telephones and other home appliances, low-gloss ABS sheet is used for instrument panels, dashboards, window frames and other automotive interior parts, with filler and coarse filler method to make the surface microscopic shrinkage, reduce the surface gloss, forming a matte surface. Of course, you can also choose the texture to reduce the gloss.

Types and characteristics of ABS sheet
Fire (flame retardant) grade ABS sheet

ABS sheet belongs to the flammable material, burning fast when on fire, and release a lot of poisonous gas and black smoke, is not conducive to practical applications. With the progress of science and technology and the improvement of the quality of life, people's safety awareness is getting stronger and stronger, and domestic and foreign plastic materials used in automobiles, construction, household appliances, office supplies and other aspects of the strict fire-retardant fire retardant requirements, and formulated the corresponding technical standards and norms, so the study of flame retardant ABS sheet has also taken on considerable significance.
There are three main ways to reduce the combustibility of ABS sheet:
1, the use of flame-retardant plastic particles and ABS co-mingled, such as PC, PVC.
2, the existing ABS raw materials for chemical modification, such as the addition of tribromostyrene as the fourth monomer to prepare a four-component ABS.
3, through a common method to add flame retardants to ABS, including inorganic flame retardants (such as MoO3) and organic flame retardants (such as halogenated compounds, phosphorus flame retardants). Flame retardant types have highly effective flame retardant effects, but other properties may not be good (e.g., aging, high cost).
Chemically modified ABS requires specific production processes that are more complex. The third approach strikes a balance between cost and performance and offers more flexibility in designing multifunctional materials. Currently, flame retardant modification of ABS sheet is dominated by the addition of highly effective halogenated flame retardants.
Heat Resistant (High Temperature Resistant) Grade ABS
Heat-resistant ABS sheet has a heat distortion temperature of 90~105℃, with good heat resistance, toughness and fluidity. It can be used in the production of car doors, rear wheel cover inner plates, panels, etc. It is applied in the field of home appliances, such as microwave ovens, rice cookers, hairdryers, etc. The heat resistance of ABS can be improved by lowering the rubber content, increasing the molecular weight of SAN and the acryl acrylate content.
Antistatic grade ABS sheet
The surface static charge of ABS sheet triggers problems such as adsorption of dust, difficulty of mould release and electrostatic discharge during processing, transportation and use. Therefore, ABS sheet needs to have a certain conductivity to prevent internal discharges and even shield the outside world from electromagnetic interference with precision electronic components. Adding an antistatic agent prevents static charges from being generated or dissipated, and is the main method of preparing antistatic grade ABS sheet.
Antistatic agent can be added before or during the processing of ABS sheet, in the same formula conditions, co-mingling machinery and co-extrusion process and other production conditions will have a great impact on the final product performance, such as mixing temperature, residence time, extrusion output, die temperature, etc. will have a direct impact on the performance of the final product.
